Doctor’s fees
Tradeka’s sickness fund only reimburses services provided by an occupational health care service provider, i.e. Terveystalo, and public health care services. The reimbursement is 80% of the doctor’s fee. Terveystalo does not charge you with an office fee.
The fund covers doctor visits at Terveystalo. This includes specialist appointments as well, such as visits to an ophthalmologist or a gynecologist. The fund has a direct reimbursement agreement with Terveystalo, meaning that you only pay the copayment. Terveystalo will charge the rest from the fund. The sickness fund does not cover the Kanta fee.
NOTE! You can visit any service provider for an ophthalmologist appointment, and the fund will reimburse 80% of the cost.
Dental care
After a year’s membership, the sickness fund will also reimburse your dental care. The fund reimburses 80% of dental care costs, with a maximum reimbursement of 500 euros per calendar year. The sickness fund does not cover the Kanta fee. You can choose the service provider for your dentist or dental hygienist yourself. Terveystalo and Oral have a direct reimbursement agreement with the fund, so you only pay the copayment at these locations. Any costs exceeding the cost ceiling must be paid by the individual.
NOTE! The Kela reimbursement must be deducted from the service price before applying for reimbursement. Starting from 1.5.2025, no referral is needed for the first two dental hygienist visits of the calendar year to receive Kela reimbursement. However, for the third dental hygienist visit in the same year, a referral from a dentist is required in order to receive the Kela reimbursement.
Tradeka’s sickness fund does not cover cosmetic dental care.
Hospital and health centre fees
The fund reimburses 80% of outpatient clinic fees, 80% of outpatient surgery fees, and 80% of health centre visit fees.
Daily hospital/health centre care fee reimbursement is 80%. However, the maximum reimbursement for a daily hospital fee is €34/day for a maximum of 60 days in a calendar year.
Treatment and care
The fund reimburses 80% of laboratory tests (including ultrasound) and imaging examinations (X-ray and MRI), provided they are conducted by the occupational health service provider (Terveystalo) or in public healthcare (excluding dental examinations, which are also reimbursed when performed by other service providers). You do not need a doctor’s referral for laboratory test packages. Only laboratory and radiological examinations prescribed by a specialist in psychiatry, a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery, or a dentist require a doctor’s referral.
We have special agreement prices for certain laboratory test packages at Terveystalo (in 2025, the Health Check Package is €64.50 and the Comprehensive Women’s and Men’s Health Package is €89.50). The fund reimburses 80% of the package price, and you only pay the 20% copayment at the reception. No referral is needed for these tests either.
Regarding procedures and surgeries, the sickness fund reimburses 80% of the physician’s fee and 80% of the facility charge, up to a maximum of 1,000€. The procedure must comply with the recommendations of good medical practice (Current Care Guidelines, Terveyskirjasto, Ministry of Social Affairs and Health’s Uniform Criteria for Non-Urgent Care 2019), meaning it must be related to disease treatment. Cosmetic procedures are not reimbursed.
Additionally, Terveystalo grants sickness fund members a 10% discount on the surgical prices of some of the most common procedures. These procedures are:
• median nerve release,
• partial meniscus removal in the knee,
• anterior cruciate ligament repair in the knee.
The sickness fund only reimburses cancer treatments provided by public healthcare.
Medicine
The sickness fund reimburses 80% of prescribed medicine, excluding the €70 copayment. This means that you are liable for the €70 copayment, and the fund reimbursement applies for the exceeding amount. A direct reimbursement is applied when you use your Kela card labelled with the sickness fund ID. The pharmacy then charges you only for the 20% copayment. The sickness fund has a direct reimbursement agreement with over 800 pharmacies.
The fund also provides a special rate of reimbursement if a fund member is entitled to such medicine. The lower special rate is 80% of purchased medicine. The higher special rate is 100% of purchased medicine for the amount exceeding €4.50.
After medicine purchases have exceeded the annual copayment limit, all medicine is fully reimbursed by Kela for the amount exceeding the €2.50 copayment.
Short-term psychotherapy and rehabilitative psychotherapy
The fund reimburses 80% of short-term psychotherapy and rehabilitative psychotherapy and for psychologist’s treatment. The maximum for such reimbursements is €1,000 per calendar year. Kela’s rehabilitative psychotherapy requires a psychiatrist’s medical certificate B. You do not need a referral for individual psychologist visits or short-term psychotherapy.
You can book a psychiatrist’s appointment at Terveystalo or with public health care services (a psychiatrist is a medical doctor, and the sickness fund only reimburses services provided by Terveystalo and public healthcare.). You can book an appointment for short-term psychotherapy at any therapist. The sickness fund has a direct reimbursement agreement with Terveystalo, meaning that you only pay the copayment. If you receive services elsewhere, send the invoice you paid to the fund, and you will receive reimbursement afterward. Terveystalo has appointed a dedicated psychotherapist (Anne Mäki) for Tradeka’s sickness fund members. However, you are free to choose any psychotherapist.
Physiotherapy

When using other providers, you pay for it yourself first and then apply for reimbursement from the fund. You do not need a referral for physiotherapy. The sickness fund does not cover the Kanta fee.
Massage as well as treatment provided by an osteopath, naprapath, and chiropractor.
The fund reimburses 80% of the cost of massage, as well as treatment provided by an osteopath, naprapath, or chiropractor, provided that the practitioner is registered in the central register of professionals, maintained
by the Finnish National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira). You can check your massage therapist’s information in Valvira’s JulkiTerhikki register .
